One of the undervalued elements of sustainable dairy farming are the male calves, which we rear here until around nine or ten months, after which we slaughter and butcher them as ‘rose veal’, either for home consumption or sale. 

The meat really is delicious and we’ve had great feedback from customers. We are lucky enough to still have a small abattoir in Tregaron, a 15 minute drive away  so there is a really good welfare story as well as the potential for us to sell direct.

It also fits perfectly with our commitment to farm sustainably and to follow the principles of the circular economy, minimising waste and linking our food marketing to the productive capacity of this farm.

Although we do not have a continuous supply, animals become available every one or two months and we can tailor the volumes and cuts to suit your needs. Once we get the meat back from the butchers, we freeze it and offer a range of cuts in meat boxes of around 5 kg, including mince,, stewing steak and some frying steaks. Because the system is vertically integrated, we are able to make our pricing quite competitive.

One option is to come here and buy directly from the farm, in which case by arrangement we could offer you fresh meat. Alternatively there are some delivery options for a selected box of frozen meat, either locally or further afield, potentially including London, depending on the logistics and our travel schedules.

Purchasing options include a 5 kg meat box with mince, stewing meat and steaks; We are also happy to quote for and supply other combinations. Do not hesitate to contact us if you would like to make a bespoke order, either in terms of cuts or the weights of the meat you wish to purchase.

Pork

Pigs - there was a time when most small farms and holdings had a pig or few. They integrate well into a system like our’s - occupying small pockets of marginal land, clearing brambles and undergrowth and preparing land for cultivation, fattening on whey from our cheese making, homegrown oats and peas and seasonal gluts. Pigs are sensitive, curious and intelligent and co-exist harmoniously with the plants, animals and people in our ecosystem. Ben looks after the pigs here with care, attention and good humour, which they appreciate and give back

Just like our veal you can purchase our pork directly from the farm and don't hesitate to get in contact if you are interested.
