Join Our Team

Holden Farm Dairy is looking for a full-time Head Cheesemaker. We make Hafod Cheddar, an internationally renowned cheese, celebrated for flavours and textures that reflect milk that is the product of 50 years of organic and regenerative farming in West Wales. 

Ours is a collaborative working environment, both within the production team and also between the farm and production teams. Additionally, we work closely with our customers and other food producers, communicating and teaching about our farming and cheesemaking practice. 

The right candidate must possess the temperament and communication skills to work with diverse groups, while also possessing a detailed process mind capable of using, monitoring, and improving the production systems employed in maintaining our continuously excellent results. 

Working closely with our production consultant, the responsibilities for Head Cheesemaker include: 

  • cheesemaking – in both lead and supporting roles; 
  • overseeing production rotas;
  • implementing, monitoring, and improving production and food safety management systems as part of our Food Safety Management and HACCP teams; 
  • communicating and teaching customers and other interested people about Holden Farm Dairy’s approach to cheesemaking.

Ideal Candidate would be:

  • a calm, creative and information-driven problem solver;
  • a systems thinker, with a keen focus on quality and constant improvement;
  • a diplomatic and thoughtful team member; 
  • strong and capable of sustained physical labour;
  • interested in organic and sustainable farming; 
  • familiar with and interested in Food Safety Management systems, including the SALSA standard;
  • Possessing experience in commercial food production, particularly those within the fermentation category (cheese, yoghurt, bakery, brewing/distilling/winemaking, and vegetable/fruit fermentations);
  • a life-long learner.  

Starting Salary £33K/annum, depending on experience.
