We are looking for an enthusiastic and hardworking person who is passionate about food and interested in organic farming to join our small and committed cheesemaking team at Holden Farm Dairy as a support cheesemaker - making Hafod from the raw milk that is produced on our organic farm.
Previous experience is not essential; but an eagerness to learn, develop skills, and a desire to work toward goals is important. The right candidate will receive full training.
Our’s is a small, collaborative team and candidates must be reliable, punctual and able to work under their own initiative with attention to detail. Duties will include all aspects of cheesemaking and maturation care, and occasional support with dispatch and basic administration and record keeping.
We make cheese every other day over a two week cycle, including weekends. The cheesemaking day is between 10 and 12 hours and starts at between 5.30am and 6am, with shorter preparation shifts on alternate days. This is a roughly 20-25 hour a week spread over an approximate 4-day week. Flexibility is required to suit the cheesemaking schedule. Starting rate of pay will depend on experience and training required.
Due to the nature of work, which involves manual tasks, heavy lifting and cleaning and a long working day, applicants must be committed to fitness, have physical endurance and strength.
Own transport essential due to rural location and varied hours of work.
